Cooper Lannert

MS, OTR/L

Role:

Occupational Therapist

Years at CPT:

1 year

Favorite thing about CPT:

I love the ability to work so closely beside other OT’s and with other disciplines.

Favorite intervention area:

With only being a practicing OT for one year, it is hard to say a favorite intervention or area of practice. I feel like I am still exploring all areas and learning so much about each. My favorite intervention to currently explore is sensory processing/interoception. One of the main struggles many of our kids have is knowing how they feel and being able to express it to others. I have been looking into more ways to address this deficit recently and enjoy being able to help each of my kids a bit more than before.

Why occupational therapy?

Karen Shields, another occupational therapist here, is why I chose OT. She was my cheer coach and I knew I wanted to work with children, but I knew I didn’t want to be a teacher. She said she worked with kids as an occupational therapist and our cheer team had helped out with Spirit Cheer. I then realized that’s what I wanted to do.

Outside of CPT:

My husband and I just recently had our first child. We love to take him over to each of our parent’s houses to spend time with his cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, and great grandma! We enjoy being outdoors, eating lots of food, and watching movies together.

What I wish more people knew about occupational therapy:

I wish people knew how broad our scope of practice is and the many different deficits or concerns we are able to address.
