Hannah Hartmann
MS, OTR/L
Role:
Occupational Therapist
Year I joined CPT:
2016
Favorite thing about CPT:
I love the collaborative approach CPT takes with each child. Whether it’s brainstorming treatment ideas from the other OT’s or recommending services from another discipline, we take a “whole child” approach to make sure each child grows, develops, and succeeds in all areas!
Favorite intervention area:
My favorite area of practice is working on the occupation of play. We will have some kids come into an evaluation and not know how to interact with toys, siblings, or family members. I love working on goals to increase engagement, fine motor skills, visual motor skills, strength, and coordination to help facilitate meaningful play within all environments.
Why occupational therapy?
In high school, I babysat a child who had special needs. After observing their early intervention sessions in the home, I realized I wanted to help children overcome obstacles and thrive in their environments, all while the session is perceived to be a “play date”.
Outside of CPT:
I am happily married to my husband, where we have three beautiful children. During our free time, we enjoy traveling, going boating at Barkley Lake with family, and being outside!
What I wish more people knew about occupational therapy:
I think it’s important for parents and caregivers to know that when utilizing our services, we are determined to help your children succeed not only during therapy sessions but in all their daily roles and routines.
